Connect To Your Cortex

Paired with your Cortex hub, the Cortex H1 tethered or H1P portable handset serves as the control and voice-calling interface for VHF, DSC calling and AIS display of potential collision risks. You can optionally add extra Cortex handsets (sold separately) for even more freedom and control on board.

One-Touch DSC

Cortex lets you initiate DSC direct calls with other vessels by simply tapping the vessel icon on your handset. Initiate VHF calls to friends or quickly hail another vessel when every second counts.

All-Weather Control

Wet hands or wearing gloves? No problem. Cortex handsets are glove-friendly and they provide responsive multi-touch, pinch-to-zoom and onscreen panning control in all types of marine environments. The 4” Corning® Gorilla® Glass touchscreen offers superior durability against impact and abrasion.

Sunlight Viewable Screen

The handset’s bright, optically bonded LCD display offers brilliant daylight visibility with optical clarity over a wide viewing angle. The screen is readable, even if you’re wearing polarized glasses.

VHF, Clear and Loud

The Cortex VHF radio puts out up to 85 dBA of powerful, crystal-clear audio, so you won’t miss critical communications.

One-Hand Operation

Cortex handsets are equipped with a click-wheel, ergonomic design and grip-enhancing exterior so you can use the device while keeping one hand on the helm wheel or tiller.

Connect Wirelessly

Both the Cortex H1 and H1P handsets connect to the Cortex hub using Wi-Fi technology. Thus, there’s no need to run any wires from the handset to the hub.

Dedicated Man Overboard

Cortex smartAIS continuously watches for man overboard (MOB) activations, sounding an alarm when it detects one. The dedicated MOB situation screen activates automatically, initiating a track-back mode and showing the water temperature, time and location of the MOB activation.

Uncluttered Situation Screens

Whether it’s a potential collision, man overboard situation or you are simply setting anchor, Cortex’s situation screens all help focus attention on priority actions by removing nonessential visual clutter from the display. You can quickly and intuitively see what needs to happen next.

Live Weather

When seconds matter in an emergency situation, the handset’s dedicated Channel 16 VHF quick-connect key takes you directly to the international distress calling frequency.

Channel 16 Quick Key

Each Cortex handset provides a screen to set up and manage the Cortex hub, view AIS target data and vessel instrumentation, manage and monitor alarms and configure the system’s remote vessel monitoring capabilities.

Monitoring and Control

What’s around your side-by-side? Maximize visibility by pairing Tread with a rugged BC™ 40 wireless camera with tube mount (sold separately). It easily mounts to your vehicle’s tube frame, flat panel or roll cage.

Rugged, Grip-Tight Design

The handset’s grip-enhancing molded case features a tactile nonslip surface with padded impact absorption zones to keep it from sliding off surfaces and help prevent impact damage if it’s ever dropped.
